Octoberfest 2015
Octoberfest 2015 Festival Theme:
Each year we like to give our festival a theme. In previous Sunderland Octoberfests we have used local myths & legends.

Starting 2013 however we have decided to start featuring local Sunderland Heros: The the first of which was Harry Watts (1826-1913) whose name we featured on the 2013 festival Glass & T-shirt.

Last year we featured Sir Joseph Swann (1828-1914) the Sunderland hero who give us all light!

For 2015 we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of military hero Ernest Vaux (1865-1925) veteran of the Boar War (1900-01). Where he commanded the Maxim Gun Troop of the Imperial Yeomanry on over 80 missions!
In celebration of his safe return hone his (brewing) family created a new ale called "Maxim Ale" which developed into "Double Maxim" the iconic Sunderland brewed beer known internationally & still brewed today by one of our festival sponsors, Maxim Brewery.
