Festival Theme: Each year we like to give our festival a theme. In previous Sunderland Octoberfests we have used local myths & legends. This year however we have decided to start featuring local Sunderland Heros: The the first of which is Harry Watts (1826-1913) whose name we feature on this years festival Glass. "I have today been introduced to a man who has, I think, the most ideal character of any man living on the face of the earth. You should never let the memory of this Sunderland man die." - Andrew Carnegie (1909).
